As America prepares to observe Veterans Day Weekend, Chris Cassidy, President and CEO of the National Medal of Honor Museum Foundation, released the below statement:
“On this Veterans Day, we honor and give thanks to the brave men and women of the United States Armed Forces. Their dedication and profound sacrifices in service to our nation secure the freedoms we enjoy each day.
Throughout America’s storied history, more than 40 million patriots have shouldered the weight of duty and honor in uniform. Of those, 3,517 have received the Medal of Honor, our nation’s highest award for valor in combat. These American heroes embody the ideals that safeguard our way of life: courage, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to and love for our country. Each of them is an inspiration and a reminder of the extraordinary potential within all of us to achieve remarkable feats in service to others.
In building the National Medal of Honor Museum, it has been our mission to create a lasting tribute that will preserve the rich history of the Medal of Honor and the legacies of its recipients so that their stories may continue to educate and inspire generations of Americans. This vision extends beyond Veterans Day, for this Museum will provide a timeless place for Americans to honor these extraordinary heroes year-round.”
