State of South Carolina approves Patriots Point’s landlease of 60 acres to Charleston businessman Michael Bennett

In addition to supporting Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum, the future development will also complement the proposed National Medal of Honor Museum, which is slated to be built on waterfront property next to the where the USS Yorktown is moored. Museum officials are currently raising money and plan to break ground by 2020.
“The National Medal of Honor Museum Foundation is excited about the energy and economic impact of the Bennett development and the effect it may have on the National Medal of Honor Museum and our partners at Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum,” said National Medal of Honor Museum Chief Executive Officer Mark Updegrove. “It will complement Patriots Point and allow us to become a world-class destination for locals and tourists alike.”
