National Medal of Honor Museum Foundation Statement Observing Memorial Day

As America prepares to observe Memorial Day, Chris Cassidy, President and CEO of the National Medal of Honor Museum Foundation, released the below statement:

“On Memorial Day, we come together to honor and remember the courageous men and women who gave their lives in service to our nation. We are eternally grateful for their selflessness in defense of a cause greater than themselves.

“Throughout our history, millions have donned the uniform of our Armed Forces and hundreds of thousands have made the ultimate sacrifice but fewer than 4,000 have been awarded the Medal of Honor, 618 posthumously. Each has a story not only of battlefield bravery but of profound dedication, integrity, and patriotism. It is their ideals that unify us and that safeguard our way of life.

“At the National Medal of Honor Museum Foundation, our mission is to create a lasting tribute to these heroes through our Museum in Arlington, Texas and a National Medal of Honor Monument in Washington, DC. We will preserve the rich history of the Medal and carry on the legacies of its recipients, especially those who are no longer with us to share their own stories. This Memorial Day, let us commit to honoring their memory by upholding the values they fought to protect.”
