The Chief Historian for the National Medal of Honor Museum will be our top subject matter expert.  Ideally, this person would be a Ph.D.-level historian possessing a deep historical understanding of the Medal of Honor, its recipients, and the cultural history associated with the decoration.  Candidates should possess an understanding of how to conduct historical research in our category and have authored significant works, books, media, articles, or tracts related to our Medal of Honor subject.

The Chief Historian will oversee a growing team of researchers, military historians, editors, and other archivists and will look to establish partnerships with outside entities to expand our reach and inputs.  The Chief Historian will lead a department that will not only support the larger information and content development needs of the Chief Museum Content Officer but will also serve the museum staff’s broader knowledge and research needs.

The National Medal of Honor Museum is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to providing equal employment opportunities without regard to race, creed, color, national origin, sex (including pregnancy), age, veteran status, sexual orientation, or disability.
