THE IDEA OF THE INSTITUTE
The Museum is the vault for the stories and values of Honor.
The Institute is the vehicle to bring those values to people’s lives.
This Museum and Institute are not about the military or combat. They are about values displayed by these heroes that can help us all. The Medal of Honor stories leave clues that translate off the battlefield, giving us strength and hope to succeed in our own battles. To create a national culture of honor, we must elevate adults, youth and communities.

KEN GRIFFIN
Kenneth C. Griffin is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Citadel, one of the world’s leading alternative investment firms, and Founder and Non-Executive Chairman of Citadel Securities, a premier global market maker. Intrigued by finance from a young age, Ken began investing in 1986 from his Harvard dorm room and launched a small hedge fund the following year. In 1990, after graduating with honors in Economics from Harvard College, he founded Citadel on the belief that extraordinary individuals, equipped with advanced quantitative analytics and powerful software, could unlock opportunities in the world’s capital markets. Today, Citadel manages nearly $60 billion in investment capital and is recognized as one of the world’s most profitable hedge funds. Ken has donated more than $2 billion to advance education, health sciences, and opportunities for underserved communities, with his philanthropic efforts now advanced through Griffin Catalyst.
The Griffin Institute, part of the National Medal of Honor Museum in Arlington, Texas, is built around three foundational goals: to inspire leadership, equip individuals to make positive community changes, and connect communities through character and service. The institute will house three centers – the Center for Character Excellence, the Center for Leadership in Action, and the Center for the Elevation of Honor – providing nationwide and global programming for all ages. “The courageous recipients of the Medal of Honor have protected the promise of our nation and embodied selflessness, service, and sacrifice,” said Kenneth C. Griffin. “I am proud to support the National Medal of Honor Institute and its mission to inspire people with the Medal of Honor values and to realize their full potential.“
